1- Engines:

In October 1982: Engine evolution, F105A: 32-valve heads, «Quattrovalvolve». Aluminium liners, Nikasil treated, compression ratio 9.2:1 (F105A: 240 bhp at 7000 rpm, torque 191 ft/lbs at 5000 rpm), two distributors and four exhaust pipes. New Tellurium valve guides, Nimonic aluminum exhaust valves.

U.S.A., Japan, Australia: Compression ratio 8.6:1, engine F105A type 040: 230 bhp at 6 800 rpm (SAE net), torque 188 ft/lbs at 5 500 rpm, two distributors and four exhaust pipes. Then in 1984, removal of the air pump, improvement of the fuel injection system with now an oxygen sensor and new simplified air injection system, the two cylinder banks will now have a single catalyst (previously, each cylinder bank had its individual catalytic converter and separate exhaust systems). New air box cover design. The engine becomes the engine F105E type 040: 235 bhp at 6800 rpm (SAE net), torque 188.1 ft/lbs at 5 500 rpm.

2- Interiors:

New Momo steering wheel with new horn button, new lighter. New electric mirror control knobs. Change of the version badge on the fuse cover below the dashboard, it becomes deeply embossed.

3- Options:

Factory options: - Air Conditioning. - Boxer paint scheme. - Metallic paint. - Rear view-mirror on passenger side. - Heated rear window (standard on U.S. version). - Central part of seat trim in fabric.

- Large front spoiler. - Magnesium alloy wheels 16"x7" front and 8" 1/2 rear with Pirelli P7 or Goodyear tires as an option (metric TRX wheel polished/frosted as standard factory until the beginning of 1983 for the U.S.A. and 1984 for the European versions, then all painted silver). On the US market, 16" wheels become factory standard from 1984.

- Roof spoiler (standard in Japan). - Schedoni Luggage set (4 pieces) in leather, two different sets available, one for non-catalyzed cars (the handles of the two small cases fold like a pantograph, the shoe case stands vertically); the other one for catalyzed cars (the handles of the two small cases fold lying on their side , the shoe case lies horizontally on its side). The cases of the set for catalyzed cars are of different dimensions: shorter in height, as the trunk is less deep due to the catalysator; the two large flat cases are also slightly shorter in length, but the «vanity case» is wider: the shoe case lies on its side, not on its bottom. The luggage sets were generally dark red-brown for the non-catalysed cars’ set, and honey/fawn for the catalyzed cars’ set, although difference did occur. The two sets were also available in black. On special order, individual sets could be made in any other colour (we know of a crema set, and a dark red set for instance).

Dealer options: The brand and model of the radio head unit depends on the import market. It is installed by the dealer so we have, among others, the Blaupunkt CR 3003 or the Alpine 7135 often proposed in the U.S.A..

4- Differences between export standards:

- On all U.S. cars, more prominent bumpers, body reinforcements, rear apron («diaper»), air pump device and specific front compartment layout (specific standards on impact and full size spare wheel unlike the Euro cars), engine hood with «u» shaped cooling grid with rain cap attached below. Large rectangular side-marker lights on the front fenders (larger than on Euro cars) and rectangular side marker lights on each rear fender. «Slow Down» warning light on either side of the steering column, then from December, 1983 onwards, directly on the dashboard. «Seat belt» indicator on dashboard, large handbrake and starter warning lights. Air vents behind the headlights and on the front hood are anodized.

- On the Swiss and Swedish versions, a thermal insulation is placed under the engine lid. Swedish cars receive headlight washer nozzles.

5- Factory Modifications:

1982: - At the end of 1982, the upper reinforcement bar of the front lid became straight.

1983: - On the US version, the defroster switch changes place in December 1983, it was switched with the switch up window on the console. Both also change shape.

1984: - Steel body panels rust protected by «Zincrox», from January 1984 onwards. - Change of the fuel injectors supports in March, 1984.

- Change of the fuse cover attachment in May, 1984, the velcroes become tie rods

1985: - Double accessory belts, one for alternator and one for the water pump, this from chassis 52349.

6- Paint scheme:

The paint scheme changes at the end of 1983 in several stages on the following details: scuttle become body colour, the windshield arms and the back part of the Targa roof support on the GTS become body colour, the rocker panels become black satin.
